Biography Born in Colombia, Carlos Santiago Restrepo went to Medical School at Xaveriana University, in Bogota, Colombia, where he did his internship (San Ignacio University Hospital). Did one year of pulmonary medicine and received an scholarship from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to study Tuberculosis control in Tokyo. After returning from Japan, Carlos Santiago Restrepo finished his Residency in Diagnostic Radiology and dedicated to work in Chest and Body Imaging. He was Chief of Body Imaging and Program Director of Radiology Residency Program in Colombia (El Bosque University and Fundacion Santa Fe University Hospital) for 15 years and then relocated to the United States when appointed as Assistant Professor and vice-Chair of Radiology at Louisiana State University in New Orleans and Director of MRI at the VA hospital in New Orleans, positions he held for 5 years. Currently Professor of Radiology at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Director of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Radiology. Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) and diplomate in Cardiac CT by the Certification Board in Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (CBCCT) . Diplomate in ClinicalEepidemiology. Member scientific committee -Chest subcommittee- of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). Reviewer for several scientific Journal, author of more than 120 papers, 15 book chapters and two books in thoracic and cardiac imaging. Several awards (Cum Laude , and certificates of merit) from the RSNA, and Society of Thoracic Radiology (STR), and Bronze Medal from the American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS). Â |
