The Association of American Publishers Honors Thieme with Three Awards for Excellence
New York/Stuttgart - Thieme Publishers has won first prize in the 2008 American Publishers Awards for Professional and Scholarly Excellence (the PROSE Awards) for both Atlas of Anatomy and Anatomy Flash Cards. Thieme Teaching Assistant Anatomy has received honorable mention.

"We would like to thank the Association of American Publishers for recognizing Thieme Publishers' commitment to producing quality products for aspiring medical professionals. We rely on the devotion, passion, and dedication of our authors, artists, and programmers to create these groundbreaking products. Our aim in these endeavors was to develop innovative products and services to meet the needs of medical students, teachers, and professionals working in the healthcare industry in new and better ways," says Anne Vinnicombe, Vice President of Production and Electronic Publishing.

Atlas of Anatomy contains thousands of highly detailed illustrations that accurately depict the human body. The concepts are organized to lead the reader step-by-step through each region of the body. In creating this single-volume atlas, the team has arguably produced the most significant addition to anatomy education published within the last 50 years. Atlas of Anatomy is based on the work of Michael Schuenke, Erik Schulte, and Udo Schumacher and edited by Anne M. Gilroy, Brian R. MacPherson, and Lawrence M. Ross. Illustrations are by Markus Voll and Karl Wesker. Anatomy Flash Cards are based on the Atlas.

More than 2,000 illustrations from Atlas of Anatomy are featured on the Thieme Teaching Assistant (www.thiemeteachingassistant.com). This state-of-the-art, web-based platform enables professors and lecturers to incorporate dynamic visuals into their lectures and course material. Complex concepts, displayed with unprecedented clarity, successfully heighten the learning experience.
